The State of Bavaria Montreal Office welcomed a delegation of 11 members of the Bavarian State Parliament’s Public Service Commission to Montreal.
During their 1-week stay in Canada, from May 12 to 20, 2023, the Bavarian MPs, including two former ministers of state, visited the cities of Quebec, Montreal and Toronto to learn more about the structural organization of public services in these Canadian urban agglomerations.
The program included meetings with the Montreal Police Department (SPVM) and at company CGI, where challenges of interior security and best practices concerning the digitization of administrative services were discussed between the two partner regions. Cultural and educational challenges were addressed during visits at the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM), the Alexander von Humboldt International School and a meeting with the organizers of Quebec City’s German Christmas Market.
In addition, a session of the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Working Group on Relations with Bavaria took place, during which the topics of digitization and cybersecurity were discussed. Other meetings with the Quebec ministries of Education, Employment and Social Solidarity, as well as with the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration, also allowed the Bavarian MPs to exchange ideas on these subjects with their Quebec counterparts.
