Hydro-Québec has chosen the Siemens Group, headquartered in Bavaria, to modernize the protection and control system at its substation on the Saint-Chrysostome site.

The Québec electricity provider felt the need to replace outdated systems with modern, digital technologies and cybersecurity tools, and is thus moving into a future characterized by innovative, automated control and advanced cybersecurity systems from Siemens.

This completely new project is characterized by flexibility and innovative thinking. Prior to its completion, Siemens extensively tested the system – in the form of a model construction – in one of its protection and control laboratories.
Now that the station is fully operational, it represents a model for future modernization of other substations in the region.
